Why not give the gift that keeps on giving this Christmas by supporting one of our chosen charities… here at Ann’s Cottage we are incredibly proud to be sponsoring Cornwall Hospice Care’s annual Santa Series Event and we want you to get involved too.

Cornwall Hospice Care is a charity that is extremely close to the Ann’s Cottage Owner and Managing Director Rob Harris, after sadly losing his wife and founder of Ann’s Cottage Beverley Harris to breast cancer in 2007.

Cornwall Hospice Care really do make an incredible difference to a lot of patients and families through their amazing staff and facilities. Not only does this event bring everyone together for an amazing day out but you can take away the phenomenal feeling of giving this Christmas.

The Santa Series is held across Cornwall and is a family friendly event made to involve everyone and anyone. If running isn’t your thing then don’t be put off, the event is acceptable to run, jog, walk or even cycle the participation is what counts. Below is a run down off where and when the events are being held…

Events are as follow:

Cornwall Hospice Care are a significant charity based here in Cornwall who are persistently providing specialist care and support to terminally ill patients and their families. Cornwall Hospice Care is a non stop Charity with their work being 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Their clinical teams assist in and out patients at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St. Austell, St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle and in Cornwall’s hospitals, care homes and further in the community which involves providing a 24 hour advice line for other healthcare professionals.

Plainly, through such difficult times its essential to help aid Cornwall Hospice Care, their families and most importantly their patients this Christmas with partaking in a merry event to bring everyone together and provide a joyful memory which you can treasure every Christmas.

We are extremely privileged to have the Santa Series running around our local stores, all around Cornwall the Santa Series shall be taking place throughout this December. We are also really proud to have some our staff involved and volunteering to run and help out with the events!

It currently costs over £5 million yearly to provide the specialist care the Hospice provides to their in and out patients. Cornwall’s NHS Commissioners only pay for 71 days of care each year which is only around 20% of the funds. This is why Cornwall Hospice Care depend on your generosity and for the community to come together and help aid this charity.

£56 could pay for three hours of unrivalled specialist care from one of our nurses, helping patients who are terminally ill.
£37 could pay for one Lymphoedema appointment to ease swelling and symptoms for someone with cancer.
– £23 could pay for an hour with our bereavement counsellor, supporting families  through the loss of a loved one.

Ultimately, the Santa Series event and the Charity are so meaningful to our community we can’t begin express the benefits of being involved with the run/cycle or simply turning up to encourage and support everyone at the event. If you would like to join us in raising as much money as possible for such an inspiring and extraordinary charity, grab your trainers and sign up HERE !
